Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday, we are launching a campaign to subsidize our Meals on Wheels program for seniors. Your past support has been instrumental in our ability to provide hot, nutritious meals to those in need, and we invite you to join us once again in making a difference.
In the spirit of giving, our SECC CUPE Union has generously stepped forward as a matching donor for our Giving Tuesday campaign. For every donation made, the Union will match it, up to $1000! This means that your contribution will have twice the impact in supporting our Meals on Wheels program for seniors.
With this incredible matching opportunity, we have the chance to make an even greater impact together.
SECC partners with Green Heart Kitchen to provide fresh, hot and healthy meals to our clients Monday through Friday. Unfortunately, not everyone has the means necessary to pay for their meals. This is where you come in. Due to the increased demand for subsidized or free meals for local seniors, SECC has decided to raise money this Giving Tuesday to go towards these meals.
“It is heartbreaking to know that 1 in 10 seniors in Windsor and Essex County live in poverty,” states Executive Director Carolyn Warkentin. “We are committed to helping those in need in our community, and we are asking for financial support this Giving Tuesday to allow us to help more low-income seniors.”
The impact that meal deliveries have on our clients lives is immeasurable. “The meals have truly been life changing for me. I rarely saw veggies or fruits because of the cost and not being sure I’d be able to stand in place in the kitchen to prepare them,” shares a current Meals on Wheels Client. “That is what I mean by life changing.”
A small donation can have a big impact through SECC because 100% of all donations go directly to the client or program!
$35 – Your $35 Donation will Provide One Week of Entrees for One Individual
$45 – Your $45 Donation will Provide One Week of Full Meals for One Individual
$90 – Your $90 Donation will Provide Two Weeks of Full Meals for One Individual
