Guiding SECC’s Vision and Mission
The SECC Board of Directors is a policy board, focusing on governance, policy and strategic planning. The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except during the months of July and August, and all Board meetings are public.
Harpreet Singh
Chair
Harpreet Singh, originally from Punjab, India, has lived in Leamington for over 26 years and serves as SECC’s Board Chair. Inspired by SECC’s impact after volunteering with the Friendly Visitation program, Harpreet has been involved with SECC for over a decade.
A proud Sikh and dedicated community member, Harpreet is passionate about bringing positive change to the area. Outside of SECC, Harpreet grows vegetables year-round and dedicates Sundays to preparing food for the homeless. He encourages others to explore SECC’s programs and get involved to make a difference.
Heather MacPherson
Vice-Chair
Heather MacPherson, a Chartered Professional Accountant from Kingsville, has been a dedicated SECC board member for nearly 18 years. She has served in various leadership roles, including Treasurer, Vice-Chair, and Chair, and brings her financial expertise to support the organization’s fiscal health.
Heather is passionate about SECC’s mission to help seniors, newcomers, youth, and individuals with disabilities. Volunteering with her daughter during the Coats for Kids program has been especially meaningful to her. She looks forward to supporting SECC’s growth and encourages others to get involved to make a positive impact in the community.
Art Krueger
Board Member
Art Krueger, a retired HR professional from Chrysler, has been a valued SECC board member for several years. Born and raised in Leamington, Art was drawn to SECC’s work and its support for newcomers and job seekers.
Art recalls his church’s sponsorship of a Syrian family as a meaningful moment that highlighted SECC’s impact. Art is committed to helping SECC improve its programs and encourages everyone to get involved and support the organization’s work.
Diane Quadros
Board Member
Diane Quadros, Director of Clinical Services at CMHA-WECB, has over 22 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, specializing in mental health and addiction services. Born and raised in Leamington, Diane is in her second term as an SECC board member and recently joined the finance committee.
Diane is committed to supporting SECC’s growth and creating a safe and positive work environment. Diane admires SECC’s ability to help individuals become independent and successful community members through its diverse programs and services.
Jill Nicholson
Board Member
Jill Nicholson, a retired professional librarian and curator for the Essex-Kent Mennonite Historical Association, was born and raised in Leamington. She has a long history with SECC, starting as a member of the Literacy Committee in the 1990s and rejoining the board two years ago.
Jill brings expertise in policy creation, HR administration, and governance, with a focus on supporting SECC’s ability to adapt to the community’s needs. She is excited about SECC’s future and encourages anyone to get involved to make a meaningful impact.
Helen Hiebert-Bergen
Board Member
Helen Hiebert-Bergen, a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner, was born and raised in Leamington and now lives in Ruthven. With a background in nursing and an understanding of the Old Colony Mennonite community, Helen brings a unique perspective to SECC’s board.
Helen is in her second term on the board and has contributed to the Governance and Financial committees. Helen values SECC’s ability to adapt to the community’s changing needs and collaborations with other organizations. She encourages others to learn more about SECC and its wide-ranging impact.
Marie-Josée Pepin
Board Member
Originally from Quebec, Marie-Josée Pepin moved to Ontario in 1990 and has built a career in Human Resources and Health & Safety. As a longtime volunteer with SECC, beginning with the Meals on Wheels program, she has seen the organization’s meaningful impact firsthand.
Now a board member, Marie-Josée is proud to contribute her expertise to help SECC deliver vital services to the community. She is passionate about supporting SECC’s mission to foster hope and independence for individuals in need.
