50 Faces of SECC – Paul + Brenda

Paul and Brenda-Lee Jones have been involved with SECC’s programs since 2011. Dedicated volunteers and clients, the Jones’ are active participants in the Senior Exercise classes on Friday mornings and share their musical talents once a month with the Adult Day Program (ADP). Paul and Brenda-Lee have also taken on other volunteer roles around SECC such as helping with our busy tax season, Chili Fest, and Friendly Visiting in local retirement homes, just to name a few.

With many musical talents, Paul and Brenda-Lee bring light and love into the Adult Day Program. ADP clients are uplifted by their recognizable folk music and can often be seen dancing, singing, and laughing while listening to the songs. Their gift of music is therapeutic to the ADP clients, and it brings a sense of calmness to the group. Paul and Brenda-Lee’s compassion towards our ADP seniors is evident through these monthly visits and is greatly appreciated by ADP staff.

The Joneses can also be seen participating during Friday morning exercises at Meadowbrook Church. They bring friendly conversation to others, as well as helpful tips to our VON Instructor, as Brenda-Lee is also a certified exercise instructor!

Paul and Brenda-Lee hold many connections to SECC throughout their years of dedicated service as both volunteers and clients. Paul shares that one of his favourite memories continues to be his love of being a musical entertainer in the Adult Day Program. Brenda-Lee has fond memories of volunteering in the Foot Care Clinic at SECC, as well as her continual dedication to our free Income Tax Clinic. The Joneses have made a significant impact on others throughout their volunteer work here at SECC as they help us to achieve our mission: “Helping people. Improving lives.”
